Today was a day full of meetings, one cancelled, one added. Sadly my weekly meeting with friends Jon and Seth for worship was cancelled due to Jon's mother's heart attack...thankfully she was recovering nicely.
Next I meet with Sonia for our weekly meeting. Some great brainstorming.
My surprise meeting followed shortly afterward. I met with Dave Oswald to pray with him and his coworkers. We prayed over day before he left for Haiti.
Later, I met with Breanda and Brenda to talk about Confirmation. It was a nice time.
Oh Lord, I thank you that you control our calendar when we let you. I ask that you continue to control my calendar the rest of the week.

I woke up today to a somewhat unpleasant email. Not my favorite way to wake up, how about you? Why does it surprise me that even life-long Christ Followers can forget their manners when it comes to electronic media? It has become so easy for us to “communicate” without any real communication.
Matthew 18:15-18 tells us exactly how to handle that sort of communication: face-to-face, one person to another. No emails. No letters. No telling someone else expecting them to pass on the info.
After I read the email in question, I was sorely tempted to forget my own Christian manners and shoot back a reply. See how easy it is to fall into that trap? Instead, after a little pacing and a lot of praying, I remembered this:
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Ephesians 4:29
Thanks for the surprise reminder today, God, that I need to use caution, common sense, and kindness in my communications.
