1-23-10 Surprise Me God - Day 14

One last warm day before the deep freeze of January kicks in. Time to clean off the ice off of the sidewalk before it becomes impossible.
Nothing too extraordinary, but it does remind me of the need for Christ followers to remove the slippery spots around their life (e.g., greed, anger, depression, cynicism, sarcasm, etc.) so that neither they, nor anyone else falls in their walk. Thanks for this surprising lesson and another warmer day in January.

You know what I found out today? There is scientific proof that eating ice cream makes you happy! Aside from wonderful medical cure s and breakthroughs, isn’t that about the coolest scientific find ever?

Today was a day of ups and downs; highs and lows. It started out great. I was able to sleep in a little bit and then my husband and I enjoyed a leisurely breakfast together. The “low” point of the day came next--the funeral of a friend, Ross Major. Now in reality, this should be a celebration. In fact, that is what the service was called: “A celebration of life.” And Ross’s life truly was something to celebrate. He was a man of incredible faith and hope. But, it is still hard for those of us living to say goodbye to someone we know, even when we know where he or she is going.

From a low point back to a high point: we spent the evening with some great friends enjoying a meal and some “spirited” competition on the Wii. The evening was topped off by making by brain happy by eating Cold Stone ice cream cupcakes. What a joy. Thanks for the surprisingly good and bad day, God.
