1-18-10 Surprise Me God - Day 9
MLK Day always seems to sneak up on me. I am grateful for a surprise day off with my kids. We had lunch together. I was able to clean some more ice off the driveway once again in just a jeans and a flannel shirt.
The beauty of the Hoar Frost on the trees was another wonderful surprise.
Late in the evening I went cross-country skiing using my new headbad-headlamp that I got at the REI store in Minneapolis last week. (love that store) Love me new toy. Well anyway the conditions were perfect. Just the perfect tempeture for exercising and the groomed grooves on the path were perfect too. It was wonderful to take 6 foot stride/glides. It is just a kick! Sort of like sailing when the wind is just right...you almost want to say "wheeeeeee!" on each stride.
Thanks for the surprise of a nice day off with my daughters and a nice evening skiing

Since I put my "Monday Surprise" on Tuesday's blog, I guess I'll put my "Tuesday Surprise" on Monday's blog! That's normal life for me sometimes...doing it backward and then trying to make it come out right in the end. Thankfully, God's got my back.
Sooo...my Tuesday surprise.
It's always hard to go back to work and get into the swing of things after a long weekend. My desk was filled with papers. My email inbox was overflowing. I had numerous phone messages to answer. Surprise...it's work at its peak of busyness. Days that start like this...like a gaping hole in the earth staring at you, and you have to figure out how to find a way across the hole and do it FAST...can sometimes leave me feeling like throwing up my hands and saying, "How am I supposed to do all of this today?"
For some reason today, I felt energized. I tackled the phone messages and emails first. Then the filing of papers and the creating of more papers (life in a law office involves a LOT of paper!). Talked to investigators, victims, and defendants. All around, it felt like a productive day, and those kinds of days always leave me feeling good.
The evening was topped off by spending time with my accountability group from last year. We had a mini-reunion to offer up some prayer support for one of our members and generally just check in with one another. It is such a wonderful feeling to know that I have friends and sisters in Christ to hold me up and hold me accountable.
Thanks for a great day, God.
