1-24-10 Surprise Me God - Day 15

Wow God...thanks for the surprise in full attendance for worship this Sunday morning. It has been a few weeks since we crested 100 and 107 today! Yeah God! Bring some more next week, not for our sake, but for your Kingdom's expansion's sake.
Got another surprise as we got home. Got a surprise invite by the Forsman's to watch the NFC Championship game. It was a very exciting team. I was hoping for the surprise of the Vikings going to the Super Bowl, but maybe it is better this way, I will be able to fully enjoy Rejoice's Super Bowl party and everyone's company rather than worry about a silly little football game in two weeks.
So, the little boy inside of me goes to bed a little sad inside once again, but the man/husband/father/son/child of God is grateful for a wonderful family and a wonderful church family. My football team lost, but I am still a winner in God's eyes.

God works in so many small and wonderful ways, that he work can be easy to miss. In the space of just a couple of hours this morning, I saw God’s hand in all of this:

1) A small group of women met to talk about how Rejoice! can serve in our community over the next several months. The ideas seemed to flow effortlessly, but I have no doubt that the Holy Spirit was blowing through each woman and empowering her to share and dream. Way to go, God. I felt blessed just to sit and listen to them. The joy they felt to be able to serve you by serving others was like a warm breeze on a cold January day.

2) A friend that our women’s group prayed for last week who was facing a medical procedure and who had concerns about the anesthesia and pain was able to report that she had not experienced any pain whatsoever. God answers prayers.

3) Our small new-start church that has been praying for God to work in and through us saw several new visitors and attendance of 107! God is GREAT!

4) A good friend who has a gift and a calling for Haiti is one step closer to fulfilling that calling as he prepares to leave for that country in just a few days. When God calls, and he DOES call everyone, it’s a good idea to listen. He really does know where he wants to put us and what he wants us to do for him.

Thanks for a morning FULL of surprises, God!
