1-26-10 Surprise Me God - Day 17

Today's first surprise was that I had a meeting that was cancelled, but I was given work to do by a supervisor instead of meeting. Sometimes life is like that...you think to yourself, "Hey I am going to catch a break, but then all of a sudden you have more work.
Later I left for refereeing in Harrisburg. I had several errands to do before leaving so I loaded the van with all I needed...or so I thought...I forgot my black referee shoes. I am sure I looked a little ridiculous in my white shoes. All the same, thanks for reminding me Lord that it is not so much how we look on the inside, but how we live on the outside.

SUN!! After a week and a half (maybe more…I’ve lost track now) of skies that are cloudy, snowy, or rainy, today we have a beautiful blue sky and SUN. It makes me so happy that my I don’t care if the thermometer says “zero” and the wind chill is in the negative digits. What a beautiful surprise.

Now I realize that God is with us through both the rain AND the sun, but sometimes that’s hard to remember, isn’t it? I wonder if God sends the rainy, cloudy days because those are the times when we really have to search for him. It’s easy to see God in the sunrise and blue skies when things are bright and beautiful. It’s a lot harder to find him in the blizzards of life. I think he still wants us to search, though.

Wouldn’t life be boring if it was always easy, peasy…everything handed to us on a silver platter and we never had to get off of our lazy-boys and actually DO anything. Hey God, I’m really grateful for the sun today, but thanks for the cloudy days, too, when I have to get up and come looking for you. And I REALLY want to thank you for letting yourself be found.
