1-25-10 Surprise Me God - Day 16

It is Monday, a pastor's day to get somethings done around the house. Did the bills and got new tires for our van. It has been running a little bumpy lately. I think we dropped a tire-weight in the snow and ice. Sure enough after the new tires, we are driving smoothly again. Thanks God for the reminder of the need for regular maintance (bills, cars, body, soul, etc) are important for life to run more smoothly.
In the afternoon I met with my friend Jason. I had asked him to visit Rejoice! this past Sunday and give me some impressions from a first time guest. Great insights! I think we will be able to apply what Jason experienced to make us a more welcoming church. Thanks for the surprising insights of first time guests Lord!
Later the bad weather came and Men's group was cancelled, but I went over to Chuck's, just in case someone showed up anyway. No one did, but Chuck and I had a great conversation. Thanks Lord for the reminder that even when the snow plows are not even going out that your Spirit is still working!

Oh-dark-thirty and the alarm screams at my husband and me. I feel like choking it into silence, but I promised him that I would get up and exercise with him this morning. I KNOW that I need to work out and eat better. I KNOW that I have to take better care of my health. But at five o’clock in the morning, this knowledge is as hard to find as anything “real” in most “reality shows.”

I drag myself out of the warm covers, find my seldom used work-out clothes, strap on the tennis shoes, and we’re off! This morning, we decided to go with an exercise show we recorded on FitTV. By the time we have completed the workout, both of us are alive, awake, and feeling pretty doggone good. Surprise! I guess working out isn’t so bad…it’s just getting out of bed that is the hard part. Maybe I’ll try this again tomorrow. God, surprise me with a desire to work-out not just my body, but my soul as well.

I woke up this morning with it being cold and dark thinking that it would be great not to have to go to work today. Then it hit me that all of us that have jobs should be thankful to God that we GET to go to work. There are thousands of people that would love that opportunity so I feel that I'm very very blessed.

Thank you God! ! ! !
