1-31-10 Surprise Me God - Day 22

Before worship this Sunday, my friend Jason (from Ransom Church) met with our new hospitality team. Jason shared with the new team how the Ransom learned through research that the first time guest decides whether they are going to return to a church in the first 7 minutes. I guess I knew that statistics, but it always surprises me. Even before I begin to preach, people have decided already if they are going to come back. Thank you God for this and several other insights Jason offered our new team.
My second surprise is far more mundane. I am a sports addict...and...gosh sports sure get boring this time of year. (bowling? figure skating? basketball before playoffs? this year's gopher hockey team?) Eek! And to top it all off...the Pro Bowl...yawn!
Keep surprising us God, I think we all need some surprises during these dog days of winter!

God always surprise me with mother nature. Today I went to my home town to pick up my mom to take her to Sioux City and on the way there I decide to go past the farm where I grew up on. I notice all the snow drifts that where there and it reminded me of when I was a kid and had all those snow forts and it gave me a big smile. Went a 1/4 mile down the road and saw a heard of about 20 head of deer which I hadn't seen for years and it reminded me of my dad. He always got excited about hunt and that too gave me a big smile. I try every morning to thank God for that day because is just wonderful

I had another “God-incidence” this morning. A couple of weeks ago, I was thinking about someone I had met in a previous job. This is a person I haven’t seen in probably over ten years, but for some reason, he entered into my thoughts and I even talked about him with my husband.

This morning, Pastor Tim had arranged a short meeting/training session with a friend of his from The Ransom Church. Tim had only told me that man’s first name, so I had no idea who this person was. When he walked into worship this morning, he came directly up to me and gave me a hug. It was the same man who I had just been thinking about out of the blue a week ago! What a wonderful surprise!

When we ask God to prepare us for a task or meeting, or ask for his help, or really, ask anything at all, he will answer.
